Planner Friday - June

My second post of the day, I'm on a roll!  My Planner Friday post is now up on the Trendy Twine blog and it is all about summer.

Yes!  It's finally summer!  I feel like I have been waiting forever for it to arrive!  I was so excited for the beginning of the season I dedicated a whole page to it in my journal this week!

July in my journal

I  wrote myself a list of things I like to do in the summer on a cute tag and popped it in my journal along with some strips of washi tape to brighten things up.  I used the lined stamp from the Check it off set to give me a couple of spaces for some summer quotes and I added a mini calendar card for an overview of July.

I used some of the image stamps from the FoodiesDrinks & more and Perfect pairs sets to show things I enjoy during warm summer days like adding ice cream to desserts, a cold glass of wine and iced drinks with a straw.

You can read the rest of my post here.

Thanks for stopping by!

Falling off the planner precipice

So, I had been teetering near the edge for a while before it happened.  Each week I got a little closer until the day I fell and it all went wrong.  Let me start at the beginning....

I have been having a lot of work done on my house which meant people coming and going, mess and inconvenience.  I packed away my planning supplies, washi tape, stamps and stickers because I didn't have enough time or space to use them while the repairs went on and I left myself with just my planner and pencil case to use daily for a month or so.

Planner and pen

In the beginning I wrote my notes, reminders and to do lists in pen or pencil, then I moved on to typing them into the calendar on my phone and iPad instead and then I made my terrible mistake.... I told myself "I will remember that".  Of course I didn't.

This led to my spectacular failure, I went to visit my mum for her birthday with my children, presents, balloons and a cake on the wrong day!  Oh the shame!  Thankfully I was a day early and not late but I still felt terrible.  Trying to juggle everything in my head instead of setting things out clearly on paper was a massive error on my part and one I don't want to repeat again!  Last weekend I liberated my stationery and planned my week ahead meticulously, I also added an extra sprinkling of washi and stickers to cheer me up after my faux pas.

The work on my house isn't finished yet but I am going to keep using my planner properly from now on.  I now know my brain can't be trusted to organise five people's lives without some extra help!

I guess you can't really call it a planner fail if you weren't using your planner in the first place so we'll just call it a blip and move forward instead!
